TORREDEMBARRA
Torredembarra is situated on a privileged site of the Costa Dorada (Golden Coast) at 12 km from Tarragona and 80 km from Barcelona. Torredembarra has become one of the main tourist and commercial centres in this area.
Torredembarra has been a rural and maritime town since the Middle Ages. A sample of this duality is its gastronomic variety. In the many local restaurants the extensive seafood dishes live in perfect harmony with the typical Catalan land dishes.
When we walk in the direction of the beach, we discover a sight offered by mother nature, the splendid golden sand beach, and we arrive in the Baix a Mar, the original fisherman district (XVIIIth century) with its beautiful promenade, where you can enjoy the sun, the sea and the appetising “tapas” in one of the many typical terrace restaurants.
Also the fishing and leisure Port is proud of its many typical fish restaurants. |

TARRAGONA
Tarragona, capital of the Roman province Hispania Citerior during the Roman empire, preserves many buildings from this period. Some of the most important things to visit: the Roman amphitheatre, just beside the sea, and the Circo Romano. The historic centre of Tarragona is situated between the + Mediterranean Sea and the old Walls. Among other things you can visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria. This cathedral is a splendid example of the transition of the Romanesque to the Gothic style.
We shouldn’t neither forget that Tarragona, capital of the Costa Dorada also has one of the most important harbours of the Mare Nostrum. The big langoustines of San Carlos de la Rápita, the crustaceans from Cambrils or the eels from the Delta del Ebro are some of the coastal products offered by the gastronomy of the Tarragona region. The province’s extensive vineyards produce excellent wines, like for example the Penedés and Priorat wines. |
